Engaged !
Double meaning- they both play the piano and this was their engagement photo for the wall. I added a little color in the plant and also the rose on the piano in pink...
We went to a church to accomplish this photo I needed to be up high and was allowed to rearrange the environment. I know the priest because I had done many wedding in his church.

It was done right in the hall were they had their wedding vows. The most difficult part was the all wanted to look up at me.
I am so proud they purchased it for the wall.

One Year Anniversary!
One year later they want an art piece for unveiling at their anniversary- I was given the privilege to unveil the piece for there guests. My first image without faces- Creative couple and satisfied. I was given the responsibility for the matting and size. They didn't want to see it until it was unveiled. Lucky for me no one fainted because you couldn't see their faces.

Evolving my studio
In my portrait the photograph on the left is a 24×30in the one behind me on the right of the bride is 40×50 by the way it was a per-bridle. I encourage brides to have photos taken a few days before the wedding day. We can come up with more creative images and they cane unveil their large image at the wedding reception for all to see. There has been times I could not go the wedding and that encouraged the bride have this done. A post bridle includes the husband as well and we can go outside even in the winter and make unusual art pieces to the wall.
The largest photo I have sold to a client is 40×90in
My studio
This image of me was made about 15 years ago in my first studio in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan. I liked my studio it had 3 floors and I owned the building. To come up with a way to make enough money- one day as I woke up- the best time for inspiration- it came to me why do I not use my client’s portraits for display. It works quickly- I had so many that I had no room to display them all- so I restricted to a minimum size of 20×24. Then one more idea, we also sold frames so to make sure we sale our frames on the images I offered 25% off the frame only. I called it my rental back fee. I would show there work on my walls for 3 weeks. The assessment was- that I always had too many photographs for my walls. The kicker came when one young lady said to me I need to have my portrait done- I ask why, she said because all my friends have had their portrait hanging in your studio.
It works, if the consultation is done right. One thing was most important to make sure the client understood that the viewing distance is the stander for the size of the image. When the head size is to small we need to stand to close and maybe even squint. Face size in a family photo will be the determining factor. I will be uploading a video on how I do my consultations. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkguniAcYXU
I love my profession and the business part too- there is always away.
One of my first professional teachers said if you want to learn- teach. I took it to heart. 1984 still a new comer I felt this would be helpful to me and my students. I shared all I had worked on- my promotions and selling techniques. To do what we think we can’t. I started to build confidence in my students by teaching them how to break a board with their hands. In 5 minutes- teach how to breath so the power came from within. Breaking the board by look beyond the obstacle. My classes were 3 to 5 days- long hours into the night... I loved to teach and speak with enthusiasm to rev up the students and many returned over and over again. I tried to evolve to more creative approaches to what is art in photography.
A class I gave in my studio. To learn to go beyound what we think we can- I thaught the class how to break boards with very little effort- with breathing... Photography is much like that to learn to uses our mind and living breath to create...

I made many cards with constant changes.

More below...

My first show at the exhibition in Regina. For 14 years I showed my work to all those that came- drew from all over Sask. and beyond.
Brought in clients from US and western Canada. In the image beside me is a photo of my wife and my son looking into the crib- future child not yet born. We made this image into announcement cards...

What is in a name? is it integrity, truth, talent and yes this is part of what we need to promote our name. Honesty embodied- with qualifications about our self. It seems so many photographers think that because they are self taught it makes them better and so good for them if they are. In most professions there needs to be a stander-ed of education that qualifies the individual... I don't show off but I earned my qualifications!
Master in photographic art- Craftsman in photographic art- Fellowship and Accredited in portraiture. The old master apprenticed the younger and so they learned and became masters.

ABOUT ME:
I had the fortune to be given the privilege to learn photography right after high school. On a trip to Europe with two of my buddies who had wonderful cameras, this frustrated me but also intrigued me. I learned art in school mostly sketching, perhaps that is why I like fine black and white photography the most.
I took courses and worked for a studio on weekends photographing weddings. When the boss asked me to open a studio in another town I felt it may be time for me to start my own after some more courses that I needed. The most difficult thing for all photographers, is how to run a business, I was no exception. In time all went well and I needed a new challenge so I decided to add to my load, teaching because I was told if you want to learn something teach it. Well, this is true I can vouch for it, I needed to learn a great deal before I could teach, so others would pay me to teach. One question came up; what is the name of your course? I struggled with this and came up with my slogan at that time, which is my brand today “feeling more deeply about photography”. If I could teach that, then I have done my best to help others to enjoy their profession. My endeavor is to promote photographic art in wall decor as a collection and investment. Wall decor for homes and offices will grow and become affordable art in our day and generation!
Many years later I moved to Victoria, British Columbia from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan where I had a studio for 25 years - Photography by Klaus Bohn Ltd - and then started over with my two sons. How great a privilege that was a new beginning with my new name Photographic Art. Now I am on my own again writing books, teaching and running a small studio in Victoria. Also I am branching out into producing artwork for wall decor, in homes and offices in North America.
I have earned my Masters of Photographic Art, my Fellowship and
Accredited in Portraiture MPA,S/PPA,A
